CLIENT: Responsive Engineering / Costain

LOCATION: Armstrong Vickers works, Scotswood Road, Newcastle

SCANNING EQUIPMENT: Faro Focus 3-D & Trimble SX10

Responsive engineering manufactured the 40 tonne structure that would be used to construct the landing jetty at the new Hinckley Point C Nuclear Power Station in Somerset by Costain.

The structure was set out by the Responsive engineers and the fabrication set to tight tolerances. Once completed the structure was laser scanned by Geomatics UK Surveyors using a FARO 120/Trimble ...SX 10 to verify any fabrication errors if any and also to measure the deflection caused by welding on the Flat plates (which would sit on top of the pile caps already sank into the seabed off Hinckley point).

The laser scan was processed using FARO Scene Trimble Realworks and Pointsense and modelled using Edgewise.

Results sent to the Costain engineering team in Somerset.
